New Roots Canada
Trust & commercial independence

Trust always takes priority over advertising revenue

Newcomers rely on this platform for decisions that affect their lives. That trust is not for sale. These rules are mandatory and apply to every partnership, listing, and payment on the platform.

Mandatory rule. A paying organization must never be allowed to change official eligibility information, change government requirements, manipulate safety recommendations, hide important competing resources, purchase false verification, purchase a misleading “official” designation, or override authoritative information.

What a paying organization can never do

Change official eligibility information

A paying organization cannot alter the eligibility facts that come from an official source.

Change government requirements

A paying organization cannot change what a government program requires newcomers to do.

Manipulate safety recommendations

A paying organization cannot influence or suppress safety guidance.

Hide important competing resources

A paying organization cannot remove or bury official or community alternatives.

Purchase false verification

Verification is earned through the review pipeline — it cannot be bought.

Purchase a misleading “official” designation

A paid or sponsored listing is never labeled official, government, or authoritative.

Override authoritative information

Official sources always take precedence. A paid listing is hidden when an official source covers the same topic.

How we enforce it

Verification pipeline

Every listing moves through Discover → Review → Verify → Publish → Monitor. Verification is earned, not bought.

Authority tiers

Official and official-partner sources always outrank community and commercial sources. A paid listing is automatically blocked from official tiers.

Sponsored labeling

Paid placement is always labeled. It never changes the eligibility, cost, or requirement facts recorded on a listing.

Audit trail

Publishing, verifying, and any attempt to override authority are recorded. Violations suspend a listing until a person resolves them.

How every resource is labeled

Clear labels so newcomers always know what kind of resource they are looking at.

Government resource

Delivered by a federal, provincial, territorial, or municipal government body.

Community resource

Provided by a community organization serving newcomers.

Nonprofit

Operated by a registered nonprofit or charitable organization.

Commercial service

A business that charges newcomers for a service. Always clearly marked.

Sponsored listing

Paid placement. Always labeled, never outranks an official source, and never changes the facts on the listing.
